State Office for Radiation Protection, Croatia

Radiation protection in Croatia is regulated by the "Act on ionising radiation protection and safety of ionising radiation sources" (Official Gazette 64/06) and its subordinate ordinances. RW management is regulated by the "Regulation on conditions and method of disposal of radioactive waste, spent sealed radioactive sources and ionising radiation sources which are not intended for further use" (Official Gazette 44/08). Licensing and registration procedures are described and the forms can be found in the "Ordinance on the register of activities, requirements and the manner of issuing, and the validity of licences for work with sources of ionising radiation and the use of sources of ionising radiation" (Official Gazette No. 125/06). General framework for emergency response is given by the "State plan and program of ionising radiation protection measures and emergency interventions" (Official Gazette No. 49/08).

The State Office for Radiation Protection (SORP) performs, together with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, functions of the regulatory authority. By the Article 41 of the Act, the State Office for Radiation Protection:
